Sent

A Closer Look

Building messaging into a product often means maintaining separate APIs, channel rules, content formats, and delivery workflows. Sent is designed to reduce that operational burden by providing one integration for SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS. The service presents itself as an infrastructure layer between an application and the underlying providers, carriers, and channel requirements.

Rather than requiring every send request to specify a channel, the platform can evaluate contact availability and route a message according to channel suitability, delivery prospects, and cost. Developers can also override the default routing when a particular channel is required.

Core Offering

The central feature is a unified messaging API with support for three channels: SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS. Sent’s visible documentation examples and product pages emphasize several supporting capabilities:

• Channel-aware routing: The service checks channel availability and selects an appropriate delivery path.
• Automatic fallback: If a primary channel fails, Sent can send a suitable copy through another available channel when appropriate.
• Template transformation: A shared message can be adapted for the differing payload and formatting requirements of SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS.
• Compliance workflows: The platform highlights opt-in enforcement, country-specific rules, content validation, 10DLC registration, and WhatsApp template approval tracking.
• Delivery visibility: Message states such as queued, sent, delivered, and read are shown as part of the product’s lifecycle-tracking workflow.

The listed pay-as-you-go plan charges per contact per month, with carrier fees passed through at cost. High-volume senders are directed toward custom enterprise pricing.

Practical Workflows

Sent appears suited to transactional notifications, verification messages, order updates, and other application-driven communications where a fallback path can improve reach. A team could define one message template, allow the service to check a recipient’s channel availability, and receive delivery status without implementing each channel’s behavior independently.

The abstraction may also be useful when WhatsApp template approval is pending, since the website says an SMS version can be used in the meantime. Visitors should review the API documentation and channel-specific restrictions carefully, particularly for message types, opt-in requirements, regional availability, and carrier charges.

Best-Fit Users

This is most relevant to developers, product teams, and businesses building messaging into software, customer workflows, or notification systems. It may be less compelling for organizations that only need basic SMS sending, already have established channel-specific integrations, or require channels beyond SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS.

Balanced Takeaway

Sent offers a focused way to consolidate multi-channel messaging and reduce the amount of routing, formatting, and compliance logic maintained in application code. Its value will depend on how well its supported channels, pricing model, delivery controls, and regional coverage match a team’s requirements. Teams comparing messaging APIs should investigate the documentation, carrier-fee details, service limits, and fallback behavior before committing.
